Colors that photograph really well include:
- Cream, ivory, tan, or camel
- Rust, burnt orange, or terracotta
- Olive or sage green
- Burgundy or deep red
- Mustard
- Muted navy or denim
I usually recommend choosing 2–4 coordinating colors for the family instead of everyone wearing the exact same color. For example, one person could wear cream, another olive, someone in rust, and another in denim or tan.
Layers and textures are also beautiful for fall photos—cardigans, sweaters, flannels, knit dresses, boots, vests, etc. I’d avoid neon colors, large logos, and super busy patterns since they can distract from everyone’s faces.
Most importantly, choose outfits that everyone feels comfortable in!

Distance & Travel
🚗 Travel Fee
All sessions include travel within 30 miles of zip code 55005.
First 30 miles – Included Some locations with longer distances may be waived.
Fees are round-trip and based on GPS mileage from 55005. Special locations or permits may have additional costs.
Locations beyond that will incur a $0.65 per mile fee (round trip) based on the IRS mileage rate.

✈️ Travel & Destination Sessions
While I’m based in Minnesota, I love to travel for photography — especially to warm places during our colder months! I spend one month each year in Lake Havasu, Arizona (between January and April) and love offering sessions while I'm there. If you're local or visiting during that time, let’s connect!
I'm also open to travel opportunities in exchange for airfare (for me and a helper) in select dream locations — I occasionally offer free coverage in return. If you have a destination in mind, reach out and let’s create something beautiful together!
